Gate of Self Print

This piece belongs to the Self Doors series. This work is painted all around sides and is very textured no frame required. Hardware installed and included for immediate hanging. This work is signed and includes a certification of authenticity . Acrylic on wood. Cobblestone achieved with a combination of paste, sand, gel with glass, garnet gel, and crackle gel. I used watercolour along the edges of the cobblestone. Then I poured a generous layer of pearlescent ink to the surrounding sky, and the borders of the stone (done in watercolour) could then bleed. Perfect for this floating mystical place. It also looks like the stones are rooted somewhere as the sky blurs out dark stone colour below. The stone and the walls are heavily textured and are very 3D. Beyond the gate, the only thing visible is the swirl of unknown portal like image. I poured inks and drops of colour for the sky. Pulling colours in a circle direction with a knife and letting the water bleed and blend away. I let dry. Protected it with a layer of clear coat. I then did a second application of inks and colours to result in that attractive yet intimidating sky. The gate of self. Many words, warnings, and directions appear to be carved all over the dense door. Personal messages that are dear to me. Heavy words I would notice anywhere. Destined words. Directions are simply arrows pointing the way from the gate where the rest of the series might take you, including the Masks, the Tree of Mourning, the Door of Desire, the Horse of Remorse, the Distance Door, Burden Bridge, the Door of Despair, the Wreath of Wrath, the Faun, Devil's Peak, Iustitia, Orion, and the Fountain. There's a very weathered message to my love, should he ever come across this place...then, I did my best to say what needed to be said to the soul that belongs with mine, a clear mark that the love was/is here, to warn him of danger I have discovered, leave a small log or record, and all the things worth carving into this gate. There's some fresh gouges partially destroying some words...There are several symbols, words, and numbers to get lost in. Or find in. Have yet to find Waldo... Proceed with caution.
