About The Artwork

The background texture recalls the spelling of Statte and the neighboring industrial area of Taranto. From three emblematic figures emerge from this flat surface: the writer and traveler nineteenth-century Janet Ross, who stayed in Statte in the nineteenth century, while the figures evanescent of a father and son remind us of the sufferings suffered by the population as a result of the pollution caused by the steel industry. The wording "Leucos Aspis" refers to the Leucaspids, a Greek armed phalanx that encamped in the Gravina.

I deals with walking as an aesthetic and relational practice, psycogeography and drawing. I realizes paintings on paper, canvas, wall in public and private sphere. The works that are included concern imaginary plans where the "green space" prevails over the buildings. Maps of non-existent territories. There is a verbal communication that intends to be "seen" and a visual communication that intends to be "read". This way of working is present in Bernynavigator World (2003) and Emotional Landscape (2012). Words are filtered by the concrete experience of life, but also by a "parallel world" that we carry within us made of heterogeneous sensations, dreams, poetry. More recently, becoming interested in a way of doing that does not involve the creation of lasting works, on the contrary, paying attention to the contingent moment in particular, in particular to "impermanence" and "situationism", I approached Zen painting and Psychogeography.
