The icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was painted in the traditional canonical Byzantine style and is a list of 12th-century Novgorod-style icons located in the Tretyakov Gallery. It is made according to ancient technologies. The layered egg tempera drawing is done on a primed board using washed chalk and linen and animal glue. This board covering is called "levkas". Linden board is glued on a special press, all knots are picked up on the front side of the board and replaced with wooden inserts. On the front side there is a symbolic recess in the board - the “ark”, which is both a frame and a protective barrier to preserve the painting layer. On the reverse side of the board are two oak veneers. The icon uses silver leaf. Upon completion of the painting, the icon is covered with a layer of natural varnish and a protective layer of varnish. The back side of the board is covered with an antibacterial protective coating. The icon was painted in the period 2012 - 2014.
