About The Artwork

I enjoy the challenge of composing, painting, and depicting my subjects in a classical realm, expressing birth, joy, and characteristics to safeguard what is dear to me. Keeping up with the contemporary influence of our time, I think of ways I can create an impactful work of art for fashionable collectors. The process evolves from layers upon layers. There is nothing definite. I learn with every new painting I plan until I finish it. Every new work is a new beginning and I enjoy going through the evolutionary process of completing each new composition. The artist has employed scratch techniques and impasto brushwork to add depth and dimension to the painting. These techniques involve deliberate textural variations. It's important to note that any minor scratch marks or lines that may appear during varnishing are typically only visible upon very close inspection. From a normal viewing distance, which is how the artwork is intended to be observed, these imperfections are usually not noticeable.

As an artist, I draw from a rich background steeped in tradition and artistic exploration. Graduating from the prestigious National College of Arts, the oldest art institute in the subcontinent, in 2007, I embarked on a journey fueled by a deep appreciation for fine art. My early exposure to traditional techniques of painting and finishing classical French interior products ignited a passion for the old masters and their mastery of form and expression. This fascination guided me towards the study of portraiture, where I delved into the intricate details of anatomy and figurative art. My artistic process is deeply personal, rooted in introspection and observation of life's nuances. As a silent individual, painting serves as my voice, allowing me to articulate my innermost feelings and experiences on canvas or paper. Whether capturing the grace of an animal or the complexity of the human form, my focus remains on portraying anatomy and figurative elements with precision and emotion. Before commencing any work, I meticulously sketch my concepts to refine my understanding and ensure accuracy in proportions. Drawing inspiration from my surroundings and personal documentation, I seamlessly integrate references into my compositions, infusing them with a unique narrative and perspective. For me, art transcends mere representation; it is a medium through which I convey emotions and evoke visceral responses. Each painting is imbued with a story, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a world of subtle light shifts and harmonious color palettes. Central to my artistic philosophy is the belief in creating meaningful connections through my work. I strive to elicit genuine emotional responses, allowing viewers to engage with my art on a profound level beyond commercial considerations or biases. In addition to focusing on conceptual depth, I prioritize the quality of my materials. From crafting my own stretcher bars with traditional joinery to selecting premium-grade paints and archival paper, I ensure that each artwork meets the highest standards of craftsmanship. While my work is undoubtedly influenced by the classical academic style, I constantly innovate to infuse it with a contemporary sensibility. Born in the '80s, I embrace my role as a contemporary artist, blending tradition with modernity to offer viewers a fresh and original visual experience.
