The pictorial reference is the painting Liberazione di Andromeda, by Piero di Cosimo (c. 1510–1513 - Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence). The photo of the work, downloaded from the Wikiart website, was opened in Photoshop, where, with digital painting tools, I transformed the figures into stains of paint. This chromatic pattern served as a compositional parameter for the background of the painting developed in the studio with acrylic paint and spatula. Gradually new areas of color were added and formal and figurative elements appeared to enrich the composition. The characters Perseus, the monster Ceto, Andromeda and Hermes are represented in a synthetic and distorted way, following the style of the composition. The rest of the characters in the original painting were eliminated. Finally the shadows were made with pastel and charcoal
