MAR III ("Le Grand Bleu" series) Print

The peace you feel under the water, although the surface may seem agitated. This is what I intend to reflect in this series of paintings. The blue color of the ocean. The transparency of the water.The perspective of the seascape even if you can't see the sky. It is also a reminder of what we need to worry about on this planet; what we depend on.(In my uncountable visits to the beach to document fot my paintings ,I can't get enough plastic off the beach while having a walk; It has become "normal" to bring a bag to be able to collect all the "things" that shouldn't be on the sand and throw them to the recicle bin...and this shouldn't be normal...) I chose acrylic because I feel very comfortable using it and in my case(although in the summer with this hit it's become very hard,cause it dries very fast...) I can work with layers and get the transparency effect better than with any other technique (and also because I have cats in my studio, and using acrylics is less dangerous for them ...) In this case, the painting turned out to be very realistic, although it was not my intention; Sometimes, when I work from an idea or a concept that does not have to be specifically figurative and my main idea is abstract, I end up being very graphic, when this happens, I like to call it "figurative abstraction", because painting has the effect of be an abstract work (depending on the light, contrast and colors), but at the same time, it has a lot of realistic visual information.
