About The Artwork
A photo by Caroline Isted who was visiting family inspired me to paint this painting. To me it had the feeling of peace and quiet. The magnificent mountain in charge of the space and the dirt road leading.....who knows where, but eventually possibly passing below THE mountain. It was a hot day so the shade from the trees was welcome, and with so much greenery for South Africa, water must have been close by. The young boy and his grandmother are off to visit family who live a little further on. I felt that it needed to be painted in oil because it was an important subject. Hopefully I have managed to pass on that emotion of peace and companionship..
