My passion and heart are driven by the Native American spirit which is represented by my artwork. I have worked for several years with beadwork, leather and feathers and now have transferred that love into my watercolor painting. My blood line goes back to the Cherokee Nation belonging to the Going Snake and Long hair clans. I work a lot with feathers as they have special meaning to me. Here is some information about the symbolism of feathers: Feathers were worn by Native American Chiefs to symbolize their communication with spirit and to express their celestial wisdom. Pueblo Indians used feather sticks while dancing in prayer during solstice rituals. Celtics wore feathered robes in ceremonies to invoke the Sky Gods and gain celestial knowledge. Egyptians also believed that feathers were symbols of the Sky Gods. In Christianity feathers represent virtues. The use of three feathers in signet rings stood for Charity, Hope and Faith. Dreams feathers are said to mean travel and or the ability to move freely. White feathers mean a fresh start or innocence. I live in the Sierra Nevada foothills in a log cabin and am surrounded by beautiful oak and pine trees. My husband and I have lived here over 30 years. In addition to our home we also have a tipi that I use for my art studio as weather permits. My land and surroundings are also a big influence in my art. Please come by again, I generally add new paintings monthly. Blessings
