One Day in September Print

I began painting this picture in October 2001. At the time I was doing lots of cityscapes, many inspired by Basquiat. I had painted the two airplanes heading towards a target, and the person in a state of shock.Then the news of the 911 attacks on the Twin Towers in New York happened.I instantly thought about this painting and then I knew how to finish it. I wouldn't say that I predicted the attack but I think I was picking up on a building tension on a global scale. I like this naive style in combination with a serious theme. It gives an added sense of intuition that children use to express their emotions. I was never happy with the original painting and years later I added to it to make it complete.
