About The Artwork

This painting is inspired by the movie Rear Window. The window and the life behind it, which allows us to choose to enter into another, unfamiliar life, with a level of involvement that we can determine for ourselves. We can just watch as we pass by, or get involved in guessing, making conclusions, suspicious, prejudiced, and also hopeful, like watching a reality show. And behind that we are actually being observed. This is architecture that takes a small piece of the world into space. In the film, through the window of a two-bedroom apartment, L. B. Jefferies can observe the lives of his neighbors through the windows of their apartment. A newlywed couple who never leaves the room, a talented music composer, a dog-owning couple who always sleeps on the balcony, a sculptor, a ballet dancer who never stops dancing, a lonely woman, and a husband and wife who always fight. Through that window too, the busy city atmosphere is present complete from morning to morning again, with various smells, smoke, hot air, sounds, and all kinds of events. One of them is murder. This painting was made using acrylic material on drawing paper, medium surface 150 GSM, acid-free.

Akmal Senja (1974). Born and settled in Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia. He consistently paints about environmental situations and tropical rainforests. But not limited to that alone, ideas continue to develop dynamically. At other times he also painted about urban society. Oil on canvas has been the main choice since he first painted. However, painting using acrylic media, ink, coffee on paper has become a pleasure in itself.
