About The Artwork

Found Pirate Copies Painting The series was inspired by films that have just been released and found on the Internet in very low quality. Films of major film companies, re-shot during the premiere with portable cameras, are pirated post-production, and get ready-made on the Internet. Low quality digital impressionism. Its phantom and airiness, transparency of light and shadows. These characteristics make the product of mass culture indistinct and unclear, poeticizing stereotyped and banal plots. What is attractive to me about using such fragments? Mixing fragments of ready-mades allows me to create an image of a new film in painting. Endowing the image of an imaginary film with the epithets: impressionism and sensuality of visual content, one can safely say that post-production, using pirated borrowing, provides film companies with services for transferring their mass product into the category of contemporary art. And the use of selected fragments from the Internet in creating a picture helps to make painting a part of the post-Internet discourse.

Vlad Yurashko Born 1970 in Poltava, Ukraine Lives, study and works in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia I like painting as a medium. Through her, I try to talk about a complex, modern world. In 2011, I collaborated with Marina Abramovich as a reperformer during her retrospectives at the Garage Museum in Moscow. It was an unusual experience that made me see and experience reality through the stress of all the physical and emotional resources of my body. This invaluable experience inspired me to create a series of "Trapped in the Woods". After this series, my understanding of painting has changed. Now I create works of painting not only as conceptually distant images, reporting on the fact of the existence of the idea. But the paintings speak about the emotional and sensual experience of the painting process itself.
