Snow Fall in the Garden Print

Here we look through an ancient traditional Chinese Garden window frame type known as “Cracks-In-Ice”. The Cracks-In-ice frame encourages monks and scholars to strive to be as pure and noble as ice, and to remain dedicated to the pursuit of enlightenment through all hardships, even in the depths of winter. The calligraphy on the wooden frame is an excerpt from a 900 year old poem by the famous Su Sui. It says: “How then can we understand the pattern of a human life? It is like trying to read the footprints of birds left here and there in the melting snow.” This quote itself refers to that you cannot know which is next direction a bird will fly to, just like our life.
