About The Artwork
Solomea’s Soul 2022, oil paints, oil pastel, stretched canvas, 50x50 cm. First of all : Solomiya Krushelnytska. (23.09.1872 — 16.11.1952) She was a Ukrainian soprano, considered to be one of the brightest opera stars of the first half of the 20th century. . I was inspired by her devotion to her motherland, so I want to show the traditional Galician pattern on the background of the portrait. I also decided to show her story in the painting. She lived for a long time in Italy, she had her own house in Viareggio, which was taken from her (I would say stolen) during the war in 1940-1945. That’s why I decided to paint the Italian landscape with the house on the background, so you can see my vision of “The spirit Italy”. Everything in this painting is the part of Solomiya Krushelnytska. . I chose the color - blue “FC” oil paint for the portrait. Red, white and black oil pastels for the pattern. In my opinion everything has a color. The main color of the painting is blue, the color of the time that represents Solomiya Krushelnytska. . I don’t know why I decided to choose this angle of painting. It was intuitively.
