Based in London, Sarit credits her art journey to a twist in her personal life. Nearly 20 years ago, Sarit attended gallery tours and workshops that offered an immersive and intensive study of contemporary and past artists. During these sessions, Sarit acquired an in-depth history of each artist and details of each piece – from brushstrokes and lighting to influence and broader historical context. Inspired, Sarit continued her art education with other curators learning about style and context – turning to actual artistry only when her fingers demanded to hold a paintbrush. Sarit participated in lessons over eight years with various artists and teachers in London. Through these classes, Sarit discovered a love for painting pieces in the figurative and the abstract. In recent years Sarit has been exposed to Jewish studies and this has had a significant effect on her artistic output. In particular the study of Kabbalah and Tanya. When Sarit picks up a paintbrush she’s inspired by Impressionism in shading and lighting combined with an Abstract sensibility. Sarit enjoys painting vivid colours, bold shapes, and figurative forms with lots of texture. Pinks and purples are Sarit’s favourite. However, she often pushes herself in the opposite direction to challenge herself as an artist. During the pandemic, Sarit expanded her style to include mixed media and incorporated a wider variety of textures and diverse methodology. Her attraction to colour and brushstrokes broadened to include depth and texture on the canvas. Among Sarit’s paintings you can usually find the “Good Eye” which she interprets as a sign of protection and enchantment. Sarit plans on experimenting with more techniques, incorporating new ideas and forms into her love of figurative painting. Most recently, Sarit started creating pop art collage portraitures of people from her personal life as well as those within the public domain. These portraits are often made up of square strokes, iconic symbols and small mementos associated with the individual subject. Sarit is very excited to see which way the portraits will take her.
