This painting is part of the “States of Nature” series, the motif for which was the foggy state of the city and the sun breaking through the dense clouds. It was the beginning of winter with that familiar feeling when light snow turns into large snow drifts in a matter of days. This is a typical Russian winter. For me, this state of nature evokes a sense of change and the cyclical nature of life. While working, I realized that the motif and coloring of this painting is similar to “The Tower" by Claude Monet, which I subsequently replicated in another series of my works. It was surprising for me because Monet was painting London and I was inspired by the color of the new building in Moscow.

With my paintings I express my inner states, mental experiences and transformations. The main inspiration is nature and its ability to change and transform, as well as human life. Painting is the main means of expressing my inner philosophical world, constantly changing under the pressure of external or internal factors.
