ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I started with a very colorful mix, with a cityscape. Then I painted the figures with the people in front, and after that worked with the background (the city and the sky) in order to integrate everything. Since one of the buildings more look like a rocket, this is a strong message to 'rocket man' to search for peace and to respect the people

Zonation paintings focus on integrating and balancing the elements: lines, tones and colours. I follow an expressionist painting philosophy inspired by Cézanne, Kleé and followers. Motives: Copenhagen cityscapes, croquis, stilleben. Artworks in acrylics, oil, aqua oil, multicoloured chalk, aquarelle and pencils. Artist video: http://vimeo.com/5322606 Artist podcast (Fr): http://podcloud.fr/podcast/choses-a-savoir-art/episode/artiste-a-decouvrir-hans-jorgen-henriksen I use the acronym 'de Hansi' in order to distinct my painting activities from my professional work as a hydrologist. I am a Danish hydrologist currently working as a principal investigator and researcher at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland at Øster Voldgade 10, 1350 in Copenhagen (working in close cooperation with Copenhagen University institute for geology and geography). I am known for my research in the field of hydrogeology, with a focus on groundwater resources and their management, as well as the impact of climate change on groundwater systems. I have published many papers in the international scientific journals, and I am also a member of several scientific organisations.
