About The Artwork

Xu Bin's original oil painting, "The Dream of That Time - Water Paradise," captures the essence of youth, passion, and perseverance through a vivid depiction of a group of young kayakers and their coach. The young kayaker students sit patiently on their kayaks, surrounding their coach, who stands tall on her own kayak, sharing her valuable experiences and insights on the sport. Beside them a kayaker in red racing with all his might. The vibrant colors and strong brushstrokes used in the painting capture the dynamic movement and energy of the kayakers as they paddle through the water. The shattered cube surrounding the kayaker racing ahead is particularly striking and represents the kayaker's triumph over his own limits. He is the idol of the young kayakers. The painting perfectly captures the sense of excitement and anticipation that comes with the pursuit of a passion, inspiring viewers to pursue their own dreams. The kayakers students dream of one day being able to break their own limits and achieve the same feat. The painting also features two children standing on a staircase on the distant shore. They are painted in a blurry gray tone, representing the young kayaker students' childhoods. They represent the youthful dreams and aspirations that lead them to pursue the sport and strive to reach their full potential. The painting is not only a beautiful memory of Xu Bin's youth but also a persuasive expression of his belief that dreams can be realized through love and perseverance. The painting encourages viewers to pursue their passions and believe in their abilities to overcome obstacles and break through their limits.

I was born in 1969 in Guang'an, Sichuan, China. I graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Southwest Normal University and became a freelance artist afterwards. My early works were mainly oil paintings, influenced by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists such as Monet and Seurat. Through continuous learning and creative practice, I gradually integrated the artistic essence of Matisse, Picasso, Dali, Chagall and other artists, and combined with my own Chinese cultural background to develop my own mature artistic style.
