The King spies with His little eyes” Print

What/who inspired the work? A meeting in the woods when walking the dog one afternoon in the falling rain. The King of the forest and I, quietly gazing into each other’s eyes, time seeming be at standstill and everything was calm -even the dog. A moment in time I won’t forget. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? I hope to entertain and entice one’s own humour, curious imagination and ability of storytelling. Adding those little squirrels curiously looking around -informing by a whisper all they see to their monarch allows for a great story… Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? Acrylic, with its fast drying time helped when creating all the little details and also giving strength to the jewel coloured areas that I hope gives extra life and sparkle to the image. I hope that, by positioning the characters up-close to the viewer it will bring them a similar experience to the one I had with the elk and the chosen colour scheme brings the depth and darkness -much like what one can experience when entering the deepest forest.
