The Legend of Pegasus. The author of this painting was inspired by the ancient Greek myths about the beautiful horse Pegasus. The symbol of poetic, creative inspiration is the winged horse Pegasus, from the blow of whose hoof the source of the muses of Hippocrene gushed. Pegasus is a character from classical Greek mythology. This is the winged horse of the Muses, which emerged from the neck of Medusa when Perseus cut off her head. It symbolizes eloquence, poetic inspiration and contemplation; in European heraldry it is depicted on the coats of arms of “thinkers”. Interestingly, during the Second World War, Pegasus, with Bellerophon on its back, was adopted as the insignia of the British Airborne Forces! The painting is made in calm gray tones.
