About The Artwork

I usually don't speak politics, but for the head of any political party to say it;s ok to kill me, tho not yet, for the President of my beautiful country, South Africa, to call me a frog to slowly boil to death, just so I don't notice I'm dying - and please lets not forget that that was actually done to a 9 year old boy on a farm last year, and for people to say its ok, it's not happening, or we don't believe , or it's deserved from something hundreds of years in the past? It is not. How many monsters are there in this world? So segregation in the USA, racial cleansing in Ruanda, Bosnia etc. all those other terms used... and only Apartheid is a dirty word that makes it all right to turn a blind eye by the rest of the world. It's not hidden, it's not done in the dark or in silence, it's done in the open, with full knowledge of the world, yet it's seen as just deserts? What is going to happen to mixed couples? Who's going to eliminate the white there? Or the children of those couples - how will you take the white part out of them and kill that? Problem is, it's not about that. It's about coal, and iron and other pretty useful rocks and the money made from the need of them. This is a hurt that will never end, because we will never be allowed to heal because it doesn't serve that third dog's agenda. My work, the Lollipop Life, is about the sweet dreams we all have in our own heads, forgetting that everyone we encounter has their own Lollipop Life filled with their sweet dreams and are more alike than different. But my dream doesn't look like one where we kill each other....................

Artist Statement "I am an artist because it is something that I am as a being of creation and creation is a primary function thus. Inside I find a well of immeasurable, quiet turmoil where shapes, forms and colour surface and struggle to find life outside of my being. I allow these to overwhelm me every time I work and find solace in the fact that they are a part of me. A Singular line can have as much beauty as the most complex verse or pattern, and embodies all of what the artist is and can be. Contrasts within work, life, light and dark, soft and hard, good and bad just the beauty of things being, even a single look in a child's eyes or a bottle top long discarded and given to rust, all the minute changes in the being of things are where I find beauty and a reason to work. I paint to be me. Art cannot conceal any lies. Within it can only be truth.”
