From the series entitled, "Compositions in the Greek Landscape," this is a painting of one section of the port in Porto Heli from nature. 24.5 cm x 30 cm, oil on canvas, 2014 The central church in Porto Heli of Saint (Ageia, or abrv. Ag. ) Evaggelistria is situated directly overlooking the main harbor. Behind the church is a watery inlet where there are sea-view apartments framing the little marina as well as the woody hill lying at the entrance of Porto Heli. It happened to be just recently that I found time to wander around the marina’s rocky beach and to be there during the first days of February where the wintery cold had just begun to give way to sunshine after a week of rain. It is this crisp light hidden in the clouds and fresh breeze weaving its way through the water that I wanted to convey in this painting; as well as a human presence through the fishing boats.

My main aspirations are creating illustrations, designing and painting for a purpose. I am continually recording my impressions of nature, people and their cultures in my work. My paintings will be on exhibit in Abu Dhabi from February, 2014. I graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York in 2008 with a degree in design for communication, and in the same year opened an art space in Southern Greece. Several exhibitions I have participated in include an environmental-awareness exhibit sponsored by the Evgenidou Foundation ("˜09), an exhibit with artists from the Middle East at the UN in Geneva ('10) and "Dreams & Think Positive" at SG Gallery in St. George Lycubittus (Nov. and Dec. "˜11). Having grown up in Saudi Arabia, I feel strongly connected with the Arab culture and use my upbringing as a reference in my work; and a Greek-American both countries' heritage provide a unlimited source of inspiration. I also work to touch peoples lives through art and culture by curating exhibitions and promoting other artists. www.bluefigart.gr http://www.behance.net/christineosmith www.etsy.com/shop/BlueFigArt
