My father was a poor painter who married a rich heiress. She lost her heritage by marrying him, and they had a very hard life. And so did I, the only child. But they say nothing is as good for an artist as an unhappy childhood, and I have been painting all my life.I did not really sell a lot of pictures until 1990, when I got into contact with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and other companies. To earn my living before that, I had a part-time job as a stewardess in SAS. I suppose I looked like a stewardess too, and I did not make many friends during my 6 years in art school. ( No long black hair, piercings and black clothes.) I still have only one friend who is a painter. The result is that my work is easy to recognise. Like Australia, I feel isolated, with many mutations that do not exist in other places.
