About The Artwork

Tonbo means Dragonfly in Japanese. The Dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation and self-realization. I always had an obsession over monks, priests and ascetics. Totonbo the Priest is someone I would like to be myself and his lifestyle is something I deeply desire. This series is called unorthodox because I’m not used to paint in this way. During preparations for my exhibition The sacred world of ethereal beings, I felt so much pressure and stress, that creating the three unorthodox paintings helped me relieve my anxiety and pain: Meditating while painting, I made every brushstroke consistently without doubts, submitting my intimate feelings with a lot of energy into this painting. It was an act of genuine, unfiltered expression and a short glimpse of enlightenment. Most of my works are inspired by nature and spirituality but the unorthodox series in particular. I tried to understand the true nature of life and everything that exists within or outside of me. This painting is unframed and may be pinned up directly to a wall.

Born 1994 Based in Solothurn, Switzerland Sossey Ginkyo known as Francisco Fausto Braga is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist working on the field of art, music, product design, fashion and more. With his art, he tries to capture the mood of a moment and convey a feeling of intimate connection with God, nature and mankind. The all-seeing eye, alien creatures and colorful motives are recurring features of his work. Core messages are timeless themes such as longing, world-weariness, grief and hope. Creative thinking and designing is his favorite activity. He sees art as an expression and essence of his personality. Even as a young child, he was very fond of painting, drawing fictional characters and worlds; creating the craziest stories, how they came to be and how they related to the real world. His greatest fascination was with the animated series of Japan. Cartoons and anime are still some of the essential components of his artwork. The creative work was a refuge from day-to-day confrontations with himself and the world, he studied theology in 2017 which was decisive for his art. In one of the courses, he had the task of creatively depicting and interpreting the secret nature of God. In the process, he created his first official work of art with the name: Ethereal beings. On an autumn afternoon, after a walk in the woods, he created his first designs. First, it was a chopped tree trunk decorated with many eyes. Later he designed other creatures, which had the shape of a column or various objects. Thus it was the birth of the ethereal beings.
