About The Artwork

The "Office" series is not connected with the established stereotype about the everyday life of "office plankton" that burns at work. Quite the contrary, this series includes images related to the team building process or the entertainment and service industries. And it tells about non-standard and creative forms of interaction between the characters. As a consequence, an attempt to commit a transcendental act turns out to be a premeditated or planned action performed in the head of a character or director, long before the event depicted in the picture. The concept of "Office", in this case, can be applied to the thought process of the heroes, or compared to the head of an employee of the creative industry. For example, the Kardashian sisters set themselves the goal of maximizing the receipt of likes and subscribers in social networks, from a spectacular exit to the next event. And we can see and understand from the photographs that the desire to look different every time forces Kim, her sister, or their friends to “be creative” all day, choosing an original outfit. These outfits sometimes really surprise with the unexpectedness and non-standard combinations, which gives Kim Kardashian the opportunity to implement a rather old manifesto on how "a simple housewife can rule the world" using social networks. Working with an elephant littered with African guys can be thought of as a complex chain of events required to create a commercial product. Reflections on such concepts as ecology, law, value, smuggling and others fall into the void if we consider this picture as a metaphor referring to the events of the summer "Black Live Matters" uprisings in the USA. I would say that the "Office" series tries to describe the complex social connections that arise in each individual image in this series. And just as easily they are destroyed as a result of the transcendental action of the heroes.

Vlad Yurashko Born 1970 in Poltava, Ukraine Lives, study and works in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia I like painting as a medium. Through her, I try to talk about a complex, modern world. In 2011, I collaborated with Marina Abramovich as a reperformer during her retrospectives at the Garage Museum in Moscow. It was an unusual experience that made me see and experience reality through the stress of all the physical and emotional resources of my body. This invaluable experience inspired me to create a series of "Trapped in the Woods". After this series, my understanding of painting has changed. Now I create works of painting not only as conceptually distant images, reporting on the fact of the existence of the idea. But the paintings speak about the emotional and sensual experience of the painting process itself.
