About The Artwork

This painting has many layers of symbolism. Yin energy is feminine, passive and fertile (dark side with the moon). I added the flower of life symbol to the yang painting to represent the masculine, assertive, light, warm sun energy (the lighter side). Two opposing forces that when come together bring a phenomenal world into being. Reflecting on this piece about balancing the masculine, yang with the feminine, yin. I definitely have more masculine energy with a “let’s do this” mentality. I’m all about the action (that’s probably why the yang is larger in this piece). One of my lessons this past year was learning how to soften, go in, get back into journaling more, and letting things be. It feels good to let the Universe work through you, allowing and receiving is a beautiful process. The painting is two stretched canvases that can be displayed together or separate.

Leah Guzman is a Miami based dynamic, contemporary oil painter and sculptor. Her abstract and figurative works are richly symbolic, spiritual and organic. She counts the Art Nouveau style and artists Alphonse Mucha and Gustav Klimt among her influences. Her work, however, carries an energy that is uniquely hers. Each piece reflects Leah’s curious, explorative, youthful and novel view on the world; each embodies an inquiry – soulful, scientific, existential or otherwise. She draws on the mythological, the biological and the visceral for inspiration and guidance. Leah's art pieces are held in private collections around the world, including the UK and United States. Leah is a native of Tarpon Springs, Florida, who first discovered art as a healing aid during her teen years. Energized by this finding, she became motivated to develop and ultimately share it.
