About The Artwork
Anahata, the heart chakra. Each of these chakra images are rich in symbolism with animals, elements, sanskrit seed syllables, and sacred geometric arrangements. The element for this centre is air, so I have made it a prominent feature of the composite. The clouds, feathers (shot with kind permission of the Australian Museum), bird (a black kite gliding over my hotel roof in Delhi) and Hawa Mahal (Jaipur's Palace of the Winds) all give the image an airy feel, while the Jaswant Thada Mausoleum in Jodhpur anchors the bottom of the frame. Inside the inverted yellow triangle (the seat of the soul) are the crescent moon, the antelope and an essential Shiva lingam, all also pointing to the symbolic power of this pivotal centre.

I was born in Trinidad and Tobago and travelled all over the world with my parents before settling in The UK for my education. I went to Sherborne School and Reading University before moving to London to be a photographic assistant to many different photographers including Anthony Blake and Spencer Rowell. Then I moved to Australia to further my career in photography that is now 35 years long as a commercial and art photographer in Sydney. I have had several exhibitions including Transformation 1992, Lifeforce 1996, Sahaja 2000, and have completed new spiritual works, The Chakras, 2014 that are shown here on Saatchi Art. I now also teach photography with Alfonso Photo tours in Sydney. I have two websites, Chrisljonesphoto.com for commercial and sahajaprints.com for prints.
