About The Artwork

'In My Time of Dying', is a modern still-life inspired by paintings in Renaissance and Baroque eras. Fascinated by the art style of the times, I wanted to combine self-portraits to dramatic still-lifes while exploring the concept 'immortality', a debate that is continuing today: Does photography make us immortal, a piece of history, unforgettable? The concept's name comes from Led Zeppelin's song, which inspired me to play with the idea 'death and immortality' and I wanted to explore the subject through self-portraits, acting like an immortal getting bored and standing still in her 'immortal' life, while all around her changes constantly.
