VIEW IN MY ROOM
This collection is of original 4"x5" large format vintage polaroids which I used as studies for my final images, you can detect the fold lines where I cropped the image and see the chemical aging process existing on the original polaroid. I have treated the scanned polaroid as I prefer artistically now, but the concept was created in my studio in New York City in 1984. My subjects were primarily fashion models that I worked with professionally and then we collaborated to create these figurative pieces. I was always interested in using the camera and lighting as a designer rather than as reportage. This concept once required the patience of the model as we searching carefully for sculptural perspectives while she remained motionless on the set. Each polaroid study I used to refine the composition as the viewer can still see the fold lines to determine the eventual final composition. This concept we were attempting to find fluid strength shown by vertical strength in the arms at the same time revealing the gentle nature of the female by the drop placement of the head and face.
