About The Artwork

Ocean's Depth - Over Sea Level If I tell you that everything will be fine, that is not the end of the world, that our planet will survive our species, that the oceans will heal and the creatures that inhabit its depths won't perish under the blade of our selfishness, would you believe me? I was walking down the street of San Francisco in California when I saw this marvellous fountain. Two rings of glass filled with water, surrounded by rocks, bubbles of air escaping between the rocks, rushing to the surface. One sign: "Please do not stand on rocks" Only one question in my head: "Who made this?" So I search for an answer, a name, an artist. But no artist made this, just cold management. On their website they describe the purpose of the fountain like this: "The plaza is now associated more with the homeless than the users of the building, but with the development to the south and the need for pedestrian flow to increase towards Market Street and Bart, this use will change. The new design features a magical fountain that has limited physical proximity by a circle of rough-textured rocks. It will replace the existing “bear pit” fountain that currently affords use by the homeless." -source http://www.keatingarchitecture.com/projects/details/8- So if I tell you that everything will be fine, that we can change, that we will survive the harsh judgment of mother nature, that we won't perish under the blade of our selfishness, that the balance that prospers in the Ocean's Depth will thrive again on the surface, would you believe me?
