I have always been inspired by photographers who combine figure and landscape to create inspiring images. I find that black and white film lends itself to this type of photo. Years ago, I would often take my children out on photo shoots. On this occasion, I found that they had become fascinated by this trout stream and they proceeded to try and catch fish anyway possible. When they laid down on the bridge, I realized from my position, their bodies blended perfectly with the stream and surrounding landscape. In taking this image my hope is the viewer will not only see the beauty of the blending of figure and landscape, but the inner playfulness of being a child. The image is printed on silver gelatin, matted and signed. The matte is 14x18. Additional images can be printed on fine art paper.

I am a sculptor, woodworker, photographer, raised in Rochester, New York and currently living and working in Prescott, Arizona. My path has taken me in many directions. Years ago I was seriously wounded in Viet Nam. The injuries were many but more importantly I lost much of the use of my left (primary) hand and the sight of one eye. This event forced me to adapt and focus more keenly on my surroundings, my direction, and defining who I am as a person. I received a degree in Studio Art at SUNY Brockport and while there, I studied sculpture and furniture design with renowned sculptors, Wendell Castle and Albert Paley. At that time I also began my photographic experience and realized I had a knack in all media for looking beyond the big picture and focusing on life's minute details. I received a Masters Degree in Art Education from Nazareth College and I worked as an art teacher both in NY and Arizona for close to 25 years. Through my work and my teaching I've tried to convey an appreciation of the joys of life, whether through art or the simple act of helping others. Artistically my path has taken me in many directions. Creating photography and furniture with a focus on the sculptural beauty in both, I continue to get closer and to see what others might not.
