About The Artwork

View of the Sea of Galilee behind a cactus tree in Capernaum. From the Project call: Dreamland- After Mark Twain in the Holy Land, explores how time and countless struggles have impacted the places he visited during the nineteenth century.  The project documents the transformation and allure of each of the historic landmarks he visited during his well-documented journey, while uncovering the impact and aftermath of the historic changes that have occurred since then. "Capernaum lies close to the edge of the little sea, in a small plain some five miles long and a mile or two wide"-Mark Twain. As a photographer and artist I have always striven for the time surprise of the ordinary. In my few years of artistic development, I have found myself again and again striving to explore time and culture changes all over the world. I found myself attracted to social and cultural issues; I was drawn to the cultural changes and diversity around me, particularly those linked to my own background. I started my career as a photojournalist in my place of birth, Israel. While living in Israel, I worked for a variety of newspapers and magazines including Hadashot, Maariv, Haretz, and The Jerusalem Post.  In 1989, I moved with my family to Canada. During this time, while becoming familiarized with his new surroundings and the resultant self-changes, I continue to work as a documentary and fine art photographer. My work has been published in The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, NowMagazine, Flare Magazine, Jerusalem Post, Maariv, Hadashot, and in Sacred Balance by David Suzuki.  Additionally, I worked with different agencies such as Actra, The Toronto International Film Festival, The Hugh MacMillan Rehabilitation Centre. Scarborough Grace Hospital, Workers’ Compensation Board, Reportage inc., The Ran Group, York university. Some recent major projects that I worked on include:  “Fleeting Glimpses”  “I am Cuba”  “Dreamland-In the footstep of Mark Twain inn the Holy land”
