About The Artwork

The sheet was made in the technique of intaglio, or etching. The composition contains an image of the ruins of an ancient city, sea and an old-fashioned ship. Attribution Sayenko Ruslan Nikolaevich (1933) is a Ukrainian graphic artist and painter. In 1951, he entered the Leningrad Art and Graphic Pedagogical School, where his teachers were A. Mordvinov, G. Orlovsky, E. Antipova, L. Orekhov and V. Teterin, who were students of K. Petrov-Vodkin, P. Filonov and A. Osmerkin. He graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture) in 1966 (the faculty of graphics; his teachers were V. Kasiyan, A. Danchenko, G. Yakutovich and G. Gavrilenko). Since 1962, he participated in republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions. He worked in the field of graphics (etching), arts and crafts (art textiles, tapestry) and painting. Solo exhibitions of Ruslan Sayenko were held in Kyiv, Moscow, Makhachkala, Tyumen, Novy Urengoy, Brussels (1993), Hanoi (1985) and Paris (2005). The artist's works are presented in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, China, Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, England, Luxembourg, the USA, Austria, Germany, Latvia and Spain. The artist prefers such styles as constructivism and the Ukrainian avant-garde. Preservation The work is in a good state. It will complement the collection of connoisseurs of Ukrainian easel prints of the last quarter of the twentieth century. The graphic sheet will appeal to lovers of landscapes, as well as those interested in book graphics and historical paintings.
