About The Artwork

The piece is comprised of a typographic collision where the message is abstracted into a concentration of forms suggesting ideas and possibilities in the heart of the city. This work is created in a neo action painting style, employing the same gestural and spontaneous painting approaches as abstract expressionists such as Jackson Pollock and Franz Kline. Here the marks are concentrated in a splatter like composition that creates a dynamic outcome through positive and negative space. Conceptually the piece is about cities and urban experiences where one can make connections and where happenstance presents unique situations and life experiences. The aesthetic is reflective of London's electric and eclectic energy and signifies an abstracted city map. Yet, again the work continues the practice of visually communicating and celebrating the potential and power that cities offer.

My work is informed by emotional responses to colour and the figurative and abstract forms found in natural and urban settings. I have produced creative works for high profile museums and galleries including the V&A and the RA, London. Recent MA study in Art and Design has taken my practice in a typographic/pop-cultural direction. I will continue to develop the work through visual experimentation to produce art that communicates the artistic intention to the viewer in a visually compelling manner.
