The chess of Tsar Dušan is a salon chess with the image of the Battle of Velbužde. Chess is a designer-sculptural installation, an original unique work modeled from the finest maple and walnut wood. Chess is a very perfect composition of a table with a mechanism, chessboards and pieces. The hierarchy in the figures is clearly expressed. The magic of medieval Serbia, the perfection and order of an empire where spiritual order, secular law and cultural rise ruled, was conveyed. All chess pieces are original ideas of the author, realized first in a drawing, then modeled in clay and then hand-carved in wood. Chess consists of figures of gallery format from 16 to 38 cm. All figures have an original pattern hand-carved according to the symbolism of the figure. The pedestal on the figures is covered with leather. The table with the mechanism is composed of a hand-carved frame that combines a chessboard and a woodcut with a molding. It is a combination of maple and walnut wood and the original design of the author. Wild walnut and maple wood has gone through a process from tree to final processing, coated with the finest natural wood oils. As an artistic achievement, the chess of Emperor Dusan, according to its purpose, belongs to applied art and the goal is to create useful and beautiful and wood as a material is adapted to the historical theme and has a symbolic-spiritual connection with the form of chess. It took 5 years of work from the idea to the creation process to the end of the chess.
