About The Artwork

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) is considered the greatest German literary figure of the modern era - but he created only one sculpture: A sphere on a cube. The "secret" of the sculpture is how the sphere relate to the cube, to give the very harmonic sphere-to-cube look: The diameter of the sphere is calculated as if the sphere is inscribed in the equal-sided triangle with sides that equal the diagonal of the surface of one of the sides of the cube. Goethe probably created the sculpture to illustrate the female principle, the sphere, in relation the the male principle, the cube, and maybe after an unhappy love affair.

Between childhood and my children's childhood I nearly never was creative in this way. But then, when my children began to play with clay and plaster, I returned to the creative arts. First, I worked with and attended classes in clay figure modelling. Then I also worked with more or less abstract sculpture making in paper clay, wood, plaster, resins - and got occupied with mould making in silicones and castings in plaster and resins. Also, a few works of paintings. Born 1951. Living in central Copenhagen, Denmark.
