The installation conservation of popular viruses appears to be an element of a scientific textile laboratory that explores the intersection of microbiological science and embroidery as a textile technique. A total of 28 pieces of machine embroidery on fabric, shows several details of electron microscopy images of viruses (Ebolavirus, Zika Virus, Poliovirus, Lassa Virus) known from multimedia, which are visualized metaphorically through the embroidery in a free artistic way in colour and design. Completed with enclosed acrylic glass tubes, associated with Petri dishes, the objects are stored on the metal shelving in four classifications to evoke a real laboratory situation made for scientific research purposes. The virus itself is an interesting microbiological concept, that pretends to be an organism by carrying genetic material, but rather considered as an infectious agent that manipulates living cells of all life forms. The installation amplifies this contrastingly character by the use of differing materials and colours: the inorga- nic metal shelving, acrylic glass tubes, artificial light and fluorescent colour in contrast to the soft and organic fabric, yarn and natural colour palette, to oscillate between the living and dead matter, the visible and the invisible, physics and biology, as well as reality and imagination.
