"Lost - yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered, for they are gone forever." -- Horace Mann I lost my Mom-in-law and best friend in August, 2016. Accepting that dying is as much a part of nature as living does not come so easily. I poured myself into this painting as a form of therapy, grappling for something beautiful and "normal" in my life. In my usual style, I added texture with collaged images of the trash I pick up off our scenic highways, but I also tore up the receipts from the final days of care for my Mom and intertwined them into the trees, giving new life to the death experience. It is created on a professionally handcrafted birch wood panel built by my husband and Master Woodworker, David Anderson. The colors & composition of this piece show influences from Gustav Klimt, who is more well known for his portraits but he created wonderful landscapes as well. All pieces from this series are finished with two coats of archival satin varnish, creating a contemporary but natural look. The edges are finished with varnish as well, but left natural and often display drips of paint from the process. No framing required. To learn more about Linda Klein visit - www.lindakleinart.com

Linda Klein, a nature-loving artist hailing from the Bay Area, California, embarks on a soulful journey that harmonizes realism and abstract expression. Unveiling her artistic flair in preschool, Linda's earliest creative adventures prompted her parents to enroll her in local art classes—a bid to save their home from toddler graffiti and nurture her burgeoning talent. Nestled in the wild beauty of West Marin since 2009, Linda draws inspiration from her surroundings. Her artistic evolution mirrors the diverse landscapes she calls home—ranging from detailed graphite drawings to vibrant, ecologically themed pieces infused with recycled collage elements. Linda's unique process involves mounting watercolor paper onto handcrafted wood panels which are often created by her equally talented woodworking husband. This technique imposes a modern eco-conscious approach that bypasses traditional framing. Linda's art is a personal reflection, resonating with the rhythms of nature. With an unwavering commitment to continuing her creative education and a dance between documentation and new realities, Linda Klein's journey is a deeply personal ode to the beauty of our planet.
