About The Artwork
Parody of Grant Wood's famous painting "American Gothic." Yes, there are a gazillion other parodies of the same work out there, but I couldn't resist doing yet another, because the painting has become part of American iconography, in the same manner as Mickey Mouse or Colonel Sanders - images that just beg for exploration and parodying. The image is a pencil drawing which was scanned and then colored digitally, i.e. there isn't an original; it is available only as prints.

I eventually completed a degree in botany and zoology, worked for some years for the South African Department of Agriculture, and later, in a medical laboratory, before spending some years as school teacher.
