About The Artwork

This drawing is part of a collection of sketches about science. In this illustration, the trail that charged particles cause in a cloud chamber is depicted. The shape of the tracks allows physicists to discover new types of particles. For example, the British physicist Carl Anderson discovered the positron (1932), the electron anti-particle, and the muon (1936) through experiments in a cloud chamber. So this drawing tries to represent in an artistic way how elementary particles can interact with the matter around them.
