About The Artwork

Sealed with Krylon Gallery Series UV Archival satin varnish. Hahnemuhle 300 grams is German acid free 100% cotton paper with deckled edges. Suggested float framing as per picture in gallery. Artist is a story teller whether drawing realistic landscape or portrait or a still life purely from observation. My drawings ( and paintings ) are product of inspiration of the moment. Basic story, idea, is a starting point which sometimes just happens and other times is more constructed and revised before I start. Actual execution is a process which develops as I go. Drawing is the purest art form, not coming back to revise and make changes. Almost like a jazz musician improvising on a theme using recognisable notes and chords but overall piece is usually quite abstract. Idea for this drawing must have been a product of recent global situation and restrictions to travel. "Going South" is my response to that.

Born in Croatia in 1958, Tony Belobrajdic is a Sydney based figurative artist. He started exhibiting in the late seventies and had his first solo show in 1983 in Croatia. Tony moved to New York in 1987 where he continued his art practice. He exhibits both in Sydney and Europe regularly. Acrylics, watercolours and oils have been the mediums of choice. Etchings is the latest medium being explored and studied with a great passion. His style could be described as contemporary impressionism, mostly portraits and figures. Tony's artwork demonstrates distinct freedom using spontaneous brushstrokes and vivid colours. He combines layered figuration of human forms put in abstract situations.
