About The Artwork

"In 'Haunter', I explored the dark fantasy realm, depicting a ghostly pegasus using chalk pastels, chosen for their ethereal texture. This artwork contrasts a delicate medium with a haunting theme. The concept was a spectral pegasus with bat-like wings amidst black clouds. I envisioned an emaciated horse, its bones pronounced, drawing inspiration from the expressions of vintage carousel horses. This pegasus breaks the frame, symbolizing freedom from form. Its exaggerated front legs and neck warp the perspective, adding tension. A gothic cityscape under a luminous moon forms the backdrop, influenced by Eugène Delacroix’s 'Mephistopheles Aloft'. I used a monochromatic palette to emphasize the starkness of the scene. Originally for a band’s show flyer, ‘Haunter’ evolved differently, eventually revisited due to my deep connection to the artwork. It reflects my childhood affinity for horses and the equine form. The Pegasus, spectral yet realistic, embodies this lifelong bond. In 'Haunter', my personal history with horses and my artistic expression converge, making it a deeply personal piece."

I have always been inspired by fantastic and imaginative stories with dark themes. In addition to my love of fantasy, I grew up with a close relationship to (and love for) animals. These ideas and inspirations naturally made their way into my own work while I progressed as an artist. My work would be best described as imaginative realism or dark fantasy art. I frequently include animals, death, skeletons, crows and other dark subject matter in my artwork, and I love to incorporate hidden references to personal experiences and stories within each piece. As an artist, I try to breathe life into each piece by incorporating both subtle and bold movements. My hope is that the observer not only views the artwork, but also imagines the rushing wind, senses the cold, or hears the sound of wings thrashing in the sky. I aim for each and every piece to be a complete visual experience.
