Each time I ask myself what destiny awaits humanity and the planet as a whole, I go through different options, trying to build logical chains of how our civilization could develop, but I always return in my thoughts to the fact that history is cyclical. Countless species of animals and other life forms have repeatedly disappeared from the face of this planet for various reasons. During the End-Permian extinction event alone, up to 96% of sea creatures and 73% of terrestrial vertebrates disappeared. I am afraid that something similar awaits humanity, because we do not have special abilities to survive in extreme conditions, so the cataclysm seems to me the most likely outcome, and the Earth will again become like in the picture: quiet and calm. My name is Anna Gofman and I'm a painter based in Sweden. Most of my artwork starts in the field by sketching the beautiful world around, be it a view from the top of a mountain, a sunset on the river bank, or just a flower I brought home from the walk. I try to carefully represent the calmness and the joy of places where I live and travel to, but never strive for photographic precision since I believe that artwork should be more than a plain depiction.
