This is part of my ongoing effort to discover new, simple compositional ideas that have the strength that you get from minimal distractions. The idea of the vortex and the horizon are both present, making a kind of landscape that is also an icon, but it's also just a set of lines that engage the eye. The casein paint is very flat, no distracting reflections.
