In Wonder Drawing

"In Wonder" 2017 This portrait of my partner Andrea started from a visit to The Macbelfast during the David Hockney exhibition after walking through the building we found ourselves in a quiet room with a desk strewn with art books for people to read, we both sat down and thumbed through them when I looked up Andreas image caught a perfect reflection reminding me of a playing card. Taking a quick snap on my phone I mused over the image for a while afterwards. Andrea because her looks often gets commented that's she looks like Alice in wonder land, and her pose lost in thoughts fed into the other aspects of her personality. I've often drawn her as a rabbit for my Manimal range of drawings. Hyper alert awareness, her observant nature and whilst her caring soft nature also can move to protect her loved ones. The white rabbit fitted into the wonderland theme and also the reflection of her personality. It's also created in panpastel, derwent pencils (pastel range) and generalpencil charcoal pencil on canford gunmetal grey paper.
