Pull My Finger!: One of my favorite things about creating artwork is that I can use it to say things of which there aren't words available for verbalizing out-loud. In the case of Pull My Finger, it's about the line between pleasure and pain and asks if, after a certain point, somebody who's been receiving both can even tell the difference. About if they're blurred, and about whether or not one is still doing something healthy for oneself and each other. I chose the color red for this image because of its wonderful vagueness. It's a passionate color, but it can be passionate in many conflicting ways. For example, red can imply love, lust, and eroticism. It's the heart. However, red is also the blood the pumps through that heart, and so red also represents violence. And through that, rage. If there's a word for not being able to understand your own feelings, to not be able to tell if you're experiencing joy and anger, love or hate, this piece is about finding it, as well as the struggle, the tug-of-war between two people who don't yet know themselves who must find a way to.
