This drawing was a second drawing made in the process of making the final artwork. Starting point for the work Ready For The Changes was Floral Deer, for which I've got inspired by the Portugal folk tale with the same title. It is about an despot, who discovered a deer who had a flowers blooming on it's horns. He captured it, but then all the blossoms fell off it's horns. His servant tried to persuade him that flowers fell off the horns due to Autumn, unfortunately this was not true. Deer's horns blossomed again only when it was secretly released from the captivity by despot's servant Dimensions of the drawing on 280 g/m2 paper are 30x40 cm.
This is a firs sketch. Ink on paper, 21x14 cm.

About The Artwork

I've made this drawing with ink on canvas, which is mounted on 4 cm wide frame. Creating this artwork I've used a detailed drawing technique with ink pen liner 0,5 mm wide, which took me a long time to finish the work. The reason for this decision is my homage to endangered species. Not only to vanishing plant species (there are only ten the most endangered species of plants in Slovenia and Europe represented), animals and cultural heritage, but endangered species of those as well, who have trouble to adapt to the living in the hyperproductive world today, when taking time means hard-to-achieve luxury and genuine connection may be only one of the remaining lines on the long list of dying manners of living. I've started to draw on the surface with no pre-sketched canvas to achieve a fresh line as possible. The artwork was awarded 'the most original Kurent' title and received International Visual Art Award KARNEVAL 2019 at International Painting Ex Tempore Ptuj, Slovenia. Kurent is Slovenian cultural heritage mask which represents the end of Winter and welcoming of incoming Spring.

Anamari Hrup is the art and program manager of the interdisciplinary project Abandoned Plants Sanctuary. Together with Eva Jera Hanžek, she has been leading the project and creating workshops, events, exhibitions, and domestic and international collaborations in the Green Refuge mobile greenhouse at Krater creative laboratory in the Bezigrad district of Ljubljana. Her body of work covers the field of painting, drawing, and illustration, combining ecological guidelines and themes, which are already implemented in the project Abandoned Plants Sanctuary. In her works, she develops and upgrades them into a whole, in the mediums of paintings, drawings, and illustration. In her personal work, through an intimate and personal relationship with the above media, she explores the field between individual and collective, between formal techniques and informal approaches. In her work, she subtly incorporates current social events, the center of which is her attitude towards nature, sustainable way of living, and the position of the individual in current socio-ecological circumstances.
