Rebecca Drawing

This painting is from a series of paintings called "female genealogy". In the series, I addressed women from my family history and my husbands family, women who have done meaningful things in their lives, women I admire for the courage and path they chose. Rebecca who appears in the painting is a great grandmother of my husband. She was pregnant when she was widowed. She never remarried and raised her only doughter alone. This work appeared in two exhibitions in 2015 and 2016 along with other works from the series . The painting is on a piece of clay, a fragment of vessels, as these women are part of another whole. The painting is pinned to a wooden frame and some of it looks floating in the air due to the concave shape of the piece. The frame, prepared by my husband, is with a hook for a comfortable hanging. Please note that the visualization of the artwork within the room does not demonstrate the exact dimensions of the frame because there is no frame in the selected image.
