About The Artwork
The Torii gates represent the border between the secular world and the sacred worlds of the Shinto religion. You can find a few Toriis in many shrines in Japan. Growing up, my family and I would visit Shrines at the beginning of every year to pay our respects and pray for a good year. We call this Hatsumode, the first visit to the shrine. This is one of my ‘Japanese Seasons’ series drawings. This one is perfect for anyone who wants a taste of Japanese culture!
