The real story starts aged 13 siting at the kitchen table. It was a hot day, my clothes were covered in oil from the sheep and I had taken them off. After finishing my lunch I stood up and turned to walk away. Jack the old shepherd was sitting in the rocking chair straight in front of me. He reached across and started to rub my penis and balls between his fingers, only my thin under pants between my skin and his. I stood there rooted to the spot, it was by far and away the most unpleasant sensation I had ever experienced and remains so to this day. He was smiling at me as he did it. I was in shock, silent, my reality had just changed beyond comprehension, and I had this sick feeling in my stomach. Then he stopped. It was as if nothing had happened, I just walked through into the sitting room. My mother was lying on the couch, I almost said something, but I had no words to describe what just happened. Over the next few weeks I found myself replaying the experience in my head, it gave me that same sick feeling when I did, but I couldn’t stop myself, it had some strange power over me. Then I did forget about it and it would be many years before I would remember. After that I was changed, could no longer pee in a urinal if another man or boy was standing beside me, I still can’t for that matter. Also I became sensitive to stories in the newspapers about sexual harassment, assault and rape. It never accrued to me that this might have had something to do with my own experience of being sexually assaulted as that was no longer in my conscious mind. These things it seemed to me were always done by males to females and I was male, it was all very confusing. This experience was what originally inspired this work of art. I hope that viewers of this art will empathize with the children and question whether child torturers and murderers are still human; it is not a work of art you are supposed to enjoy. The granite base of this piece is old, hard rock formed from molten material at the edge of a geological battle between tectonic plates. The slate is positively feeble in comparison, but does have an interesting pattern and was locally sourced. The glass skull, led and needle are a visual representation of the process described on the stainless steel plate. The 1 hertz sound is to aid the imagination to conceptualize the pain of an electrode being turned on in your brain. I am not sure if it is great art, there is no love in it, but the pain is real. This Art work perfectly reflects the punishment system of a fascist regime and must never be implemented. It must never be implemented as like a suicide bomb it might be used against us, and someone could manipulate the evidence and do it to an innocent person. The human must always be protected.
