About The Artwork

Inspired by an activity often forgotten today: listening. The foreheads of two lovers gently touch as they feel each other's breath, attuned to the sound of life itself. Listening transcends mere auditory perception; it involves one's skin, soul, and entire being, calling for a deeper connection. --- I am currently exploring the Chinese woodblock printing technique and its potential for integrating various printing methods with drawing. Chinese woodcuts are traditionally printed on delicate handmade rice or mulberry paper using specific tools, rice glue, and water. Managing larger formats poses a challenge due to the use of water and the paper's delicacy. My aim is to merge the subtlety of this technique with the intensity of expression through drawing, initially in ink, and then painting while the mounted paper is still wet – a process I refer to as 'woodcut fresco'. Once the paper is dry, I use coloured pencils for finer details or even more intense finish of the artwork, depending on the requirements. The result is a nuanced fusion of Eastern and Western artistic approaches, encompassing both technique and craftsmanship. The custom stamp was crafted during my studies in China in 2009 and is used on each artwork as a sign of authenticity.

Drawing inspiration from a blend of Eastern philosophy, calligraphic principles, and printing techniques, my approach to art is deeply rooted in the experimental and expressive artistic handwriting. Over the past decade, my artistic journey has been dedicated to the exploration of sacred erotic art, with a particular focus on the rich traditions of Indian and Taoist cultures. Through meticulous research, I've delved into the depths of these traditions, aiming to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary audiences. My objective is clear: to illuminate the intricacies of sacred eroticism and present them to modern viewers through the versatile medium of drawing and mixed media. By doing so, I hope to ignite a curiosity and appreciation for these profound yet often cryptic discoveries, encouraging further exploration and understanding.
